Engine rebuild part 2 (Top end MG 2695)

Cylinder sealing surface lapped in against cylinder head with grinding paste.

Cylinder original bore, just got a light honing.

Max piston ring groove clearence is 0,15mm.

New piston ring mounted, measured 0,5mm.

C = Max piston ring end gap 0,8mm

Piston ring end gap 0,7 mm. still within specs.

Piston to cylinder clearence is 0,15 mm. Wear limit 0,30 mm.

No wear on piston pin.

81,42 original size piston.

This is a used piston but all measurements are within specs and it looks good so it will have to do another tour of duty.

Engine rebuild part 1 (bottom end).

New bearings, seals and gaskets.

Engine cases cleaned, bearings and seals replaced. No play in connecting rod so it went back in.
Note marking on crank 1969.

Transmission cleaned and inspected, looks ok but is known to be a bit of a weak link in the 400cc engine.

Cases put back together.

Crank in the center.

Drivegear and clutch installed.

1970 engine cleaned and new bearings fitted.

Crank in good condition, marked 1970.

Transmission inspected.

Transmission installed.,

Clutch was toast on this engine so new clutch plates went in.

Done for now.

In the begining...

Husqvarna CR 400 found by me in Åsele, a small town in the northern part of Sweden.
Forward tilted shocks, reinforced swingarm and plastic fenders. Engine not original 1969 model.

Works aluminium tank

MG 3056 Sold 24/4 1969 Katrineholm Sweden, first owner unknown.

This Husqvarna is actually registered for road use.

Another Husqvarna CR 400.
found by me outside Finspång Sweden.

This bike is also in need of some serious work. Engine turns over and has matching 1969 number. Some modification done to the frame and tank is missing.

MG 2695 Sold 27/2 1969 Tibro Sweden.
First owner turned out to be Rune Isaksson, serious racer from Tibro MK.

Rune back in the day.
